Do you want a more just, peaceful and inclusive society?

“War is always a defeat for humanity. International law, honest dialogue, solidarity between states, the noble exercise of diplomacy: these are worthy methods for individuals and nations to resolve their differences.”

Juan Pablo II

On 14 February 2022, the world shook with the news of Russia’s attack on the Dombas region (Ukraine), and not for nothing. Almost a year after the start of the Russia-Ukraine war, the consequences are an unprecedented global economic and humanitarian crisis. On the one hand, we have an increase in poverty on a global scale due mainly to the open energy crisis – according to the UN, some 1.5 billion people have been affected in one way or another – and on the other, the devastating destruction of an entire country and the lives of its almost 45 million inhabitants.

Do you believe that a world in which people live together in peace and harmony is possible? What are the keys to achieving it? TEDIS 2023 gives you the opportunity to express your ideas and contribute to improving relations in societies and between peoples so that they are peaceful, just and in solidarity.

How can you get involved?

  1. Write an inspiring speech
  2. Registration and participate in the online speech
  3. If you have been selected, present yourself at the final

What is the theme of the speech?

Goal 16 of United Nations Sustainable Development. “Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, facilitate access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels.”

Why is this important?

People around the world should not be afraid of any form of violence and should feel safe throughout their lives, regardless of their ethnicity, religion or sexual orientation.

What do we need?

Effective and inclusive public institutions that can provide quality education and healthcare, and implement just economic policies. It is important that governments, civil society and communities work together to implement lasting solutions that reduce violence, deliver justice, effectively combat corruption and ensure inclusive participation at all times.

What can I do?

You can take an interest in your government’s performance. Raise awareness in your own community about the reality of violence and the importance of building peaceful and just societies.
